OK. I work in a job where we bill our time. we have an hourly requirement that equals about 8 hours a day. After the 8 hours kicks in, he generated an 'incentive' program where if we bill more than the requirement, we got a progressive bonus that is calculated based on the hours worked. Despite the fact that he gets over $180 an hour for our work, the overtime equals $16 an hour beyond our salaries. It is designed to make us want to work beyond the requirement.
the first year, he paid the 'bonuses' without issue as promised. the second year, he said that the mid year payout was 'discretionary' and that you have to stay the whole year to get it or you would OWE BACK any amount that you collected mid year. so you work overtime, he gets paid by the client, and if you leave before the end of the year or you get fired, you OWE YOUR BOSS????? seriously??? In December, he fired a lot of people to avoid paying them their end of the year overtime.
